Senator Mike Folmer (R – Lebanon, Dauphin and York) chaired his first Senate State Government Committee meeting today in the Main Capitol.
The Committee reported out the following three bills:
- Senate Bill 9, sponsored by Senator Patrick J. Stefano (R – Fayette, Somerset and Westmoreland) to enact the Proof of Citizenship for Receipt of Public Benefits Act (9-2, as committed);
- Senate Bill 82, sponsored by Senator Stewart J. Greenleaf (R – Bucks and Montgomery) to amend the Pennsylvania Election Code to further provide for powers and duties of county boards of election (11-0, as committed); and
- Senate Bill 316, sponsored by Senator Folmer to amend the Procurement Code to require accountability for sole source and emergency procurements (11-0, as committed).
“I’m looking forward to a lot of action in the State Government Committee this session on a broad range of topics. Today was a good start,” said Folmer. “Openness and transparency are key on vetting issues related to operations of the General Assembly, state government procurement, elections, and people’s access to information through Right to Know and other laws,” he continued.
The Committee will also soon be holding a public hearing on Senate Bill 3 to allow for medical cannabis in the Commonwealth. Further details are forthcoming.
